Cryptocurrency payment company MoonPay has made an undisclosed contribution to Stand With Crypto, a nonprofit organization that advocates for the crypto industry. MoonPay CEO Ivan Soto-Wright announced the donation, which went towards Stand with Crypto’s efforts to build and mobilize advocates for cryptocurrency. Soto-Wright emphasized the importance of the upcoming US presidential election in shaping the future of the industry and called on people to support crypto. The donation from MoonPay comes shortly after Stand With Crypto launched a political action committee (PAC) for its members to contribute to candidates running in the 2024 US elections. Coinbase, which helped launch Stand With Crypto, has been actively engaged in dialogue with financial regulatory authorities in the US. The company has faced legal battles with the US Securities and Exchange Commission and is now facing a new lawsuit over alleged investor deception. Coinbase has been making efforts to support politicians who are friendly to the cryptocurrency industry. In 2020, CEO Brian Armstrong expressed the company’s apolitical stance, stating that they do not advocate for specific causes or candidates unrelated to their mission.
