Yat Siu, the visionary behind Animoca Brands, took the stage at WebSummit Rio on April 16 to participate in an engaging panel titled “Bitcoin’s Revenge: Is Web3 Making a Comeback?” During the discussion, Siu confidently predicted that Bitcoin (BTC) will eventually soar to $1 million.
The panel was skillfully moderated by Cointelegraph Ambassador Kristina Lucrezia Cornèr, who was joined by Ripple president Monica Long. Long stressed the significance of the crypto market’s development, asserting that it holds more weight than the mere price of Bitcoin.
A notable highlight of the panel was Long’s praise for Brazil, as she commended the country for its dedication to crypto development. According to her, Brazil is one of the key regions where a genuine focus on cryptocurrency is evident.
Cornèr shifted the conversation towards the power of Web3 in empowering individuals, particularly those who have limited options in society. She emphasized that Web3 is crucial in giving people a voice and a sense of agency. Cornèr expressed her sentiment, stating:
“As we delve into the concept of Web3, it becomes apparent that this year will bring forth a greater level of maturity in Web3 companies. Equally important is the current institutional adoption, showcasing the growth and development of this field.”
Web3 and the emergence of spot Bitcoin ETFs were also discussed during the panel. Siu highlighted that financial inclusion and its impact, specifically on blockchain and Web3 games, hold more significance than institutional adoption.
Long, on the other hand, revealed that Ripple is collaborating with banks and payment companies worldwide to utilize blockchain technology as a layer or infrastructure to enhance the efficiency of global transactions. She acknowledged the growing interest from banks in the crypto market and contemplated how to ensure regulated exposure to this evolving industry.
Overall, the panel provided valuable insights into the future of Bitcoin, Web3, and the crypto market. It showcased the optimism and determination of industry leaders like Yat Siu and Monica Long, who are actively shaping the landscape of digital finance.
