According to a dashboard provided by blockchain intelligence firm Arkham, the top five crypto whales with publicly known wallet addresses hold approximately $3.5 billion in cryptocurrencies. However, a significant portion of this amount is inaccessible due to lost passwords and private keys.
On April 15, Arkham announced an updated dashboard that reveals the holdings of some of the world’s richest on-chain-verified crypto holders and whales, including Justin Sun from Tron and Vitalik Buterin from Ethereum. The data shows that the top five crypto holders on the list collectively own $3.47 billion in digital assets, but around 35% of that amount, equivalent to $1.21 billion, has been flagged as inaccessible.
Justin Sun ranks first on the list with a reported $1.06 billion in his crypto wallet. The majority of his holdings consist of his own stablecoin, Decentralized USD (USDD), with $275 million, followed by Tron (TRX) tokens worth $237 million.
In second place is Rain Lõhmus, the founder of Estonia-based LHV Bank, with $769 million worth of Ether. However, his holdings have been marked as inaccessible since he lost access to his private key in November.
Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, holds the third position with a wallet containing $757 million, primarily in ETH tokens, of which he owns 245,425.
Stefan Thomas, the former chief technology officer at Ripple, appears fourth on the list with a Bitcoin wallet worth $442 million. Unfortunately, his Bitcoin holdings have also been labeled as inaccessible since he lost the password to the encrypted hard drive holding the details of his cryptocurrency in 2011.
Crypto venture capitalist James Fickel completes the top five with $436 million worth of digital assets in his wallet, according to Arkham.
The dashboard provides information about public wallets tagged by Arkham, including the current token holdings and balance history, portfolio breakdowns across different chains, historical daily balances, and recent activity. However, it’s important to note that the list does not include whale wallets owned by unknown or pseudonymous individuals, such as Bitcoin’s creator Satoshi Nakamoto, whose BTC holdings are estimated to be worth tens of billions across multiple addresses, or other crypto titans that are not currently associated with a specific wallet address.
