The Blockchain for Good Alliance (BGA) made its official debut on April 15 at the Blockchain Life Dubai event. The BGA, a collaborative network of organizations, projects, and individuals dedicated to utilizing blockchain technology to address global social, environmental, and economic challenges, has formed partnerships with a wide range of blockchain-based organizations. These include Bybit Web3, Solana Foundation, Aptos, Moledao, Harvard Blockchain Club, ICP.Hub UAE, American University of Sharjah (AUS), Coineasy, Libera, Edu3Labs, Alchemy Pay, Bu Zhi DAO, and XueDAO.
The recently established alliance will function as an incubator for blockchain technology, as stated on its website. It aims to facilitate networking opportunities by connecting developers with mentors, resources, and events. In a statement, Abbie, a representative of the Harvard Blockchain Club, expressed their support for the BGA.
One of the BGA’s partners, the blockchain social platform Moledao, described the alliance as a means to promote mass adoption in a YouTube video released on April 14. Silvia Semenzin, an Italian researcher from the GRASIA Research Group at the Institute of Knowledge Technology, Complutense University of Madrid, recently explored the concept of “blockchain for good” in a research article published on Sage Journals. Semenzin noted that many initiatives aimed at using blockchain technology for social good are driven by profit motives or lack an understanding of the financial disparities between different social classes.
Operating as a non-profit organization, the Blockchain for Good Alliance aims to alleviate concerns typically associated with technologically-driven philanthropic endeavors. Lily Liu, President of the Solana Foundation, expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating that it strengthens their commitment to utilizing blockchain for the benefit of humanity. She believes that the alliance will drive meaningful change by uniting its partners.
