Worldcoin’s World App has achieved a significant milestone, surpassing 10 million registered users. The app is attracting an average of 2 million new users daily and over 5 million monthly. This achievement comes less than a year after its launch in June 2023. Tiago Sada, the head of product for Worldcoin’s parent company, Tools for Humanity, revealed that the app now has more daily users than its total monthly user count in January 2024.
World App, a cryptocurrency project developed by Worldcoin, aims to establish a universal basic income. To register, users must have their eyes scanned in-person by the company’s “Orbs” machines. However, Remco Bloemen, the head of blockchain at the Worldcoin Foundation, emphasized that World App is not intended to be the sole solution on the Worldcoin protocol.
One recent notable use case of World App involves a user in Kenya who expressed gratitude for being able to purchase a goat using the funds obtained from a Worldcoin airdrop. The story went viral, and the crypto community showed support by sending an undisclosed amount of cryptocurrency to the user. With the additional funds, the user bought more goats, bringing their total to “13 and counting.” The goat pictured above even received a name, “Sam,” which was inspired by Sam Altman, the co-founder of Worldcoin and the CEO of OpenAI, a leading artificial intelligence startup known for its ChatGPT product.
In related news, Worldcoin has implemented stricter privacy checks and introduced a feature that allows users to unverify their World ID.
