Magmic, a well-known gaming company, has recently announced their latest venture at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. The company, famous for titles like “UFC Fight Card Rummy” and “Idle Pet Paradise,” is now developing a new game based on the Major League Baseball (MLB) license.
Although the game’s title has not been revealed yet, it will be an “idle tycoon” game that allows players to create their own baseball stadium experience. The game will have the official licensing from both MLB and MLB Players Association, ensuring an authentic gaming experience. While specific details about the gameplay are still a secret, Magmic’s CEO, Mo Agha, did disclose that players will have the opportunity to construct and expand their own MLB ballpark, as well as trade players.
Magmic, founded in 2002, gained recognition as a leading mobile gaming company with its popular Blackberry games, such as the Texas Hold ‘Em King franchise. Over the years, the company’s games have been downloaded more than 250 million times, and they currently boast a player base in the millions, according to their latest press release.
Magmic has previously developed games based on well-known intellectual properties, including a mobile version of Hasbro’s Scattergories and a real-money rummy game on iOS featuring the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) license.
The new MLB-licensed game will support both Web3 and Web2 gameplay. Players will have the ability to trade digital assets, such as ballplayers. The game can be played entirely as a traditional Web2 experience on mobile and browser, without the need to engage in monetized and asset-based Web3 features.
According to Agha, “We are excited to bring the MLB experience to our players through this new game. With the official licensing, players can expect an authentic baseball stadium experience where they can build their own dream ballpark and engage in player trading. We believe this will be a game-changer for baseball fans and gaming enthusiasts alike.”
In related news, Sequence, a gaming development company, has partnered with Google Cloud to simplify Web3 gaming development. This collaboration aims to enhance the gaming experience by leveraging the capabilities of Web3 technology.
