Japanese gaming powerhouse Square Enix has forged a partnership with web3 games platform HyperPlay, marking a significant move into the world of cryptocurrencies. Square Enix, known for popular franchises such as Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts, has made an undisclosed investment in HyperPlay to support the expansion and development of its game store. As part of the collaboration, Square Enix’s “SYMBIOGENESIS” art experience, which is based on MetaMask and focuses on digital asset ownership, will be launched on the HyperPlay platform. The investment and partnership reflect Square Enix’s commitment to embracing blockchain, Web3, and artificial intelligence (AI). HyperPlay, meanwhile, aims to disrupt the gaming sector by empowering game developers and leveraging the benefits of web3. The company has plans to expand platform access for Mac users and integrate with Amazon Prime in the future.
