BNB Chain, the ecosystem powered by the BNB (BNB) token, has introduced a solution called rollup-as-a-service (RaaS) to facilitate the development of layer-2 blockchains on its network.
On March 14, BNB Chain announced the launch of its RaaS solution, which aims to assist projects in building layer-2 networks on BNB Chain. This service will provide projects with the necessary technical infrastructure to deploy layer-2 networks on the blockchain, thus expanding BNB Chain’s ecosystem.
Additionally, BNB Chain highlighted that the RaaS solution supports decentralized applications (DApps), allowing various project verticals such as blockchain gaming and decentralized finance (DeFi) to be deployed on the layer-2 networks. Furthermore, BNB Chain is offering rollup management support and a “no-code” deployment option for projects that may not be familiar with coding.
The BNB Chain team explained that the layer-2 networks created through the RaaS service will be built on the BNB Smart Chain (BSC), which serves as their foundational layer-1 blockchain and governance chain.
According to the BNB Chain Core Development Team, this new service aligns with their objective of promoting the widespread adoption of Web3 technology. They stated:
“BNB Chain has been actively focusing on layer-2 networks since 2023. On June 20, we unveiled our layer-2 scaling solution, opBNB, based on the Optimism OP Stack, on a testnet. This layer-2 solution is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), enabling it to work seamlessly with Ethereum-based smart contracts and token standards.”
In September, the opBNB scaling platform was deployed on a mainnet after a testing phase, making it publicly available. BNB Chain reported that the platform successfully handled over 35 million transactions and saw the deployment of 150 DApps on its testnet. The project also claimed that the opBNB platform achieved a stress test result of 4,000 transactions per second (TPS).
The introduction of the new rollup service by BNB Chain is part of its ongoing efforts to achieve the goals set earlier this year. In its “BNB Chain 2024 Outlook” released in January, the company introduced the concept of “One BNB” interconnectivity, which connects BSC with its decentralized storage service, BNB Greenfield.
