DePIN io.net, a recently launched decentralized physical infrastructure network, is embracing Apple silicon chip hardware for its artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) services. The network, which is based on Solana, utilizes computing power from various data centers, cryptocurrency miners, and decentralized storage providers to fuel ML and AI computing. The company introduced its beta platform at the Solana Breakpoint conference in November 2023 and also announced a partnership with Render Network. By incorporating Apple silicon chip clustering, engineers can now cluster Apple chips from anywhere in the world for ML and AI computing. Io.net is known for offering cost-effective GPU computing resources for AI and ML applications, using Solana’s blockchain for payment facilitation. Tory Green, io.net’s chief operating officer, stated that Solana’s infrastructure is ideal for handling the scale of transactions and inferences the platform facilitates. Users can now leverage a wide range of Apple Silicon chips, including the M1, M2, and M3 models, to provide compute power. Io.net highlights that Apple’s M3 chips, built on advanced three-nanometer process technology, outperform Nvidia’s A100-80 gigabyte graphics cards in terms of memory architecture. Additionally, the M3 chips feature an enhanced neural engine that is 60% faster than the M1 series. The unified memory architecture of Apple’s chips makes them well-suited for model inference, allowing live data to be processed through AI models to make predictions or tackle tasks. Ahmad Shadid, the founder of io.net, believes that the inclusion of Apple chip support will help meet the growing demand for AI and ML computing resources by enabling millions of Apple product users to contribute their spare chip and computing resources.
