Uniswap, a decentralized exchange (DEX), plans to introduce a web extension for its native wallet. A waitlist is available for users who have obtained a uni.eth username. The extension, similar to self-custody wallets like MetaMask, will enable users to perform various actions such as sending, receiving, purchasing, and swapping tokens and altcoins directly from their web browsers. The uni.eth domain, which converts 0x addresses into usernames, has already seen over 100,000 subdomains claimed. The value of Uniswap’s token has risen by over 80% in the past month, driven by a proposal that suggests rewarding protocol fee participants. The proposal, submitted by Uniswap Foundation’s governance lead, Erin Koen, aims to provide incentives for UNI token holders who have staked and delegated their tokens. Koen emphasized that the upgrade would maintain the DEX’s immutability, enhance security, and allow for future experimentation. Discussions on the proposal are ongoing, and Uniswap plans to launch its V4 DEX in Q3 2024 following a major Ethereum upgrade.
