Valora, a peer-to-peer payments company, has recently introduced “Mobile Stack,” an innovative launchpad for Web3 DApps designed specifically for mobile devices. This decentralized and open protocol aims to revolutionize the landscape by providing a permissionless platform.
According to Valora, cited in a Cointelegraph press release, the current mobile-native experience for top Web3 apps is limited, with only 8 out of the top 100 apps on DApp Radar optimized for mobile. Valora’s ambition is to address this gap by offering developers within the Web3 community an intuitive platform for deploying DApps that prioritize mobile usability.
While fintech and crypto apps like Robinhood Crypto and Coinbase have seen success with mobile users, the broader DeFi and Web3 communities predominantly operate within desktop environments. This trend may stem from the perceived challenges in developing mobile-first applications compared to PC/Linux platforms.
Valora identifies the current DApp user experience as “cumbersome,” requiring users to integrate wallet apps with browsers or desktop software to access Web3 applications. Mobile Stack seeks to simplify this by serving as a foundational platform equipped with essential protocols for Web3 functionality. Developers can customize the placeholder app to suit their DApp’s specific requirements using these predefined protocols.
Among the initial apps set to debut on Mobile Stack are Stake Capital’s “Troopo,” an app for savings and earnings, and Vana’s “ChatGPT Data DAO,” empowering users to monetize their data through a user-operated DApp.
Valora envisions diverse applications for Mobile Stack, including facilitating borderless peer-to-peer payments, streamlining onboarding processes for DeFi services, supporting universal basic income initiatives in emerging markets, and partnering with cryptocurrency exchanges for “learn-to-earn” campaigns.
Founded in 2020, Valora operates as a decentralized wallet on the Celo network. In 2021, the company garnered attention with a $20 million funding round led by A16z, marking its transition to an independent entity from Celo.
In related news, Web3 user adoption hit a record high of 10 million in Q2, as reported by DappRadar.
