Worldcoin, the biometric digital identity project using iris-scanning technology, and Alchemy, the Web3 development platform, have announced a new partnership aimed at enhancing the infrastructure of the World Chain ecosystem.
On June 26, Worldcoin disclosed that its collaboration with Alchemy will grant World Chain developers immediate access to Alchemy’s comprehensive Web3 developer platform. This includes core and data APIs, indexing solutions, and a suite of tools essential for app development. One significant addition is an account abstraction infrastructure designed to bolster the security of self-custodial wallets within the World Chain ecosystem.
Additionally, Alchemy plans to integrate World ID into its toolset, providing millions of developers worldwide with access to digital ID technology. Noam Hurwitz, Alchemy’s engineering lead, expressed optimism to Cointelegraph, believing the partnership will facilitate substantial strides towards onboarding a billion users onto blockchain and enable developers to create applications that prioritize human needs.
Introduced in April 2024, World Chain positions itself as a blockchain tailored for human-centric applications. Partnering with Optimism, Coinbase, and the broader Ethereum ecosystem as part of the Superchain initiative, it is currently in the process of migrating from the OP mainnet. World Chain will serve as the primary platform for Worldcoin’s World ID, obtained through iris scans at global orbs, and the World App.
Highlighting the platform’s focus on human-centricity, Steven Smith, head of protocol at Tools for Humanity, emphasized World Chain’s use of verified World IDs to allocate priority blockspace and provide free gas allowances for everyday transactions. This approach aims to exclude bots and enhance developers’ access to genuine users.
Smith underscored Alchemy’s selection due to its track record in ensuring uptime and reliability for major enterprises.
