Martin Shkreli, famously known as “Pharma Bro,” has recently claimed involvement in the creation of the DJT token, based on
Solana
. This token has garnered significant attention due to rumors suggesting it was linked to Donald Trump’s son.
In an X Spaces session on June 18, Shkreli disclosed that he had assisted a friend in launching the token back in April. He mentioned that approximately 10 individuals were directly engaged in developing it, with 40 to 50 others being aware of its existence. Interestingly, Shkreli reportedly mentioned Barron Trump, the son of Donald Trump, as one of the individuals involved.
The X Spaces discussion took place just hours after Arkham Intelligence announced a $150,000 reward for anyone who could identify the creator of DJT. This bounty was a response to Shkreli’s acceptance of a $100 million wager with prominent crypto trader GCR regarding the authenticity of the DJT token.
On June 18, Arkham boldly declared on X, “Forget it, we’re going all out. $150,000 to the first person who conclusively proves the identity of the creator of $DJT.” They further stated that any evidence provided would be publicly disclosed.
Following this announcement, renowned blockchain investigator ZachXBT submitted information that may have prompted Shkreli to host the X Spaces event.
Meanwhile, speculation continues online about whether DJT was indeed launched by Trump or a member of his family. The decentralized betting platform Polymarket indicates that nearly $1.9 million has been wagered on the token’s authenticity.
As of now, only 17% of the total bets support the notion that DJT is legitimate, a figure that dropped to 7% after Shkreli’s X Spaces discussion.
The initial rumor about Trump’s involvement in DJT, particularly through his son Barron, originated from a post by tech blog Pirate Wires. However, Pirate Wires creator Mike Solana clarified that he did not have direct contact with Trump and was sharing information obtained from his sources.
Currently, DJT is trading at 0.012, marking a decline of over 66% from its peak of 0.036 on Tuesday, as reported by Birdseye.
