Stepn, a popular game on the Solana blockchain that allows users to earn rewards, is taking a social turn with the introduction of a new app and token. Developed by FSL, the Stepn Go app was launched on May 23, offering users the opportunity to share their digital sneakers with friends and family who are new to the app. Users can also split their earnings and enjoy social features like adding friends, messaging, and avatars. The app allows players to earn rewards in the form of the new Go Game Token (GGT), which can be earned by walking, jogging, and running with digital sneakers. Alongside the app launch, FSL also released the StepN Go white paper. The original Stepn app, launched in 2021, is known as one of the largest move-to-earn games in the world and a leader in gamified Web3 fitness applications. It operates on a dual token system, with the Green Satoshi Token (GST) as the utility token and the Green Metaverse Token (GMT) as the governance token. FSL co-founder Yawn Rong stated that the Stepn community has been requesting social features within the app for some time. The GameFi industry, which combines gaming and decentralized finance (DeFi), has experienced a resurgence in recent times, with the number of daily active wallets doubling in the past year. StepN has been active in the market, partnering with Adidas for a nonfungible token (NFT) drop and announcing an airdrop of FSL points to reward its core players.
