In a surprising announcement on Telegram, Pink Drainer, a well-known tool for draining crypto-wallets, revealed that it would be retiring. The developer, known as ‘Pink,’ declined to comment further and deleted the entire chat record on Telegram. CryptoSleuth ZachXBT shared a screenshot of the final announcement, which stated that Pink Drainer would be shutting down after stealing over $75 million. PeckShieldAlert also reported on the shutdown, noting that Pink Drainer addresses had staked a significant amount of $DAI into Spark. According to Dune Analytics, since July 2023, over $85 million has been stolen from more than 21,100 victims. The Pink Drainer Telegram channel has now rebranded as “Bonadifier,” featuring an image of Bonad and a message urging victims to remember what was taken from them. In 2023, Pink Drainer’s cybercriminal toolkit helped steal $53 million from over 9,000 participants. Despite the shutdown, other drainers like Angel Drainer continue to pose a threat in the crypto space.
